This page contains information on where to find valuable Gwent cards in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

Gwent Cards can be found in a variety of locations throughout the world of The Witcher 3. Many can be purchased from various merchants throughout the land, while others can be won by winning a game of Gwent.

Skellige Card Locations

The Blood and Wine expansion introduces a new Gwent deck based on characters and creatures from the Skellige Isles. A starter deck of these cards can be obtained at the beginning of the quest Gwent: To Everything - Turn, Turn, Tournament! from Count Monnier outside the Pheasantry Inn in Beauclair.

This will also unlock the quest Gwent: Never Fear, Skellige's Here, which will pinpoint the loction of merchants, innkeepers and other Gwent enthusiasts in possession of valuable Skellige cards. Below are the locations of the most powerful cards in the Skellige Gwent deck.

King Bran

Type: Leader
Ability: Units affected by inclement weather only lose half their strength.
Location: The King Bran card can be won from the Ducal Camerlengo in Beauclair.

Cerys

Value:  10
Type: Close Combat
Ability: Summons all Shield Maiden cards from deck / hand into play.
Bonus: Hero card. Cerys cannot be affected by inclement weather or Scorch cards.
Location: The Cerys card can be won from the inkeeper in Flovive, across the river from Beauclair.

Hjalmar

Value:  10
Type: Close Combat
Bonus: Hero card. This means he cannot be affected by inclement weather or Scorch cards.
Location: Hjalmar is included in the starting deck obtained from Count Monnier.

Ermion

Value:  8
Type: Ranged Attack
Ability: Mardroeme - trigger the transformation of any Berserker cards in the same row.
Bonus: Hero Card - not affected by inclement weather or Scorch cards.
Location: This card can be won from the inkeeper at the Scarlett Cardinal in Francollarts.

Olaf

Value:  12
Type: Ranged Attack / Close Combat
Ability: Morale Boost - Increase strength of other cards in row by +1.
Bonus: Agile - Can be placed in either the CC or Ranged row
Location: This card can be won from the inkeeper at the Adder and Jewels Winery, near Gran Place in Beauclair.

Clan Dimun Pirate

Value:  6
Type: Ranged Attack
Ability: Scorch - Eliminate the most powerful card(s) in play.
Location: This card can be won from the merchant to the West of the Grandmaster Smithy in Beauclair.

Draig Bon-Du

Value:  2
Type: Siege Range
Ability: Commander's Horn - Double the strenght of all other cards in the row.
Location: This card can be won from the innkeeper of The Pheasantry in Beauclair.

Kambi

Value:  0
Type: Close Combat
Ability: Summon Avenger - When removed from play, this card is replaced by a powerful Hero card.
Location: This card can be won from the Armorer to the north of the Nilfgaardian embassy in Beauclair.

Hero Cards

Certain cards can only be found by defeating expert Gwent players in a round of cards. Usually they take the form of Hero cards, which are especially useful since they're invulnerable to any weather or special cards. Yennefer's card is one of the best hero cards to pick up, with her Medic ability granting a bonus ressurection to any previously discarded card. This Hero card can be earned by defeating Stjepan the inkeeper in Oxenfurt, once you've gained access to the Novigrad territory. Beating this player will also open up the Gwent: Playing Innkeeps side quest.

Win this rare Hero card from a young boy called Haddy in the village of Midcopse during the quest Gwent: Velen Players. Haddy plays a Northern Realms deck and favors using Close Combat units - many of which have the Tight Bond ability. Counter this with the Biting Frost weather cards, and make use of any Spy cards you have to bolster your hand.

Leader Cards

Leader cards are cards that you can use once per game as a special boost to your army. Each faction has three cards that can be unlocked in addition to the starting Leader card.

Foltest: The Siegemaster

Ability: Doubles the strength of all Siege Combat units, provided that a Commander's Horn isn't already in play on that row.

This leader card can be won by defeating the Nilfgaardian nobleman in the gardens of the imperial palace in Vizima.

Rare Cards

Other valuable cards can also be won from players marked with a golden Gwent icon (as opposed to the standard white). These players usually appear during the various Gwent-related side quests that you encounter during the game.

This Strength 4 Spy card can be won from the Bloody Baron in Velen. The Baron plays with a well-balanced Northern Realms deck, and favors using Spy cards to gain extra cards for his hand. He also possesses several weather cards and at least one Scorch card, which will wipe your best cards off the table.

Commander's Horn

During the Triss Merrigold side quest A Matter of Life and Death, Geralt has the option to play Gwent with several guests at an elegant party. Dandelion's card can be won by defeating the third opponent in the queue.

Gwent Quests

Throughout Geralt's adventure, he'll be able to take on various Gwent players known throughout the realm for their skill and powerful decks.

Velen Players

Upon meeting the Baron, Geralt can inquire about the card game. Not only is the Baron a skilled player, but he'll also recommend that Geralt seek out the Boatwright in Oreton, an old sage and a young boy named Haddy to collect the best cards in Velen.

Big City Players

This quest pits Geralt against some of the best Gwent players in Novigrad. They include Vimme Vivaldi, Sigismund Djikstra and the madame of the Passiflora brothel.

A Dangerous Game

A Dangerous Game becomes available after completing main quest The Play's the Thing. Geralt can choose 3 unique Gwent cards as his reward or pass them up for 350 crowns.

Playing Inn Keeps

Playing Inkeeps is a Gwent quest that pits Geralt against.. well, innkeepers. From the Seven Cats to the inn at the Crossroads, these inkeeps will gladly risk a rare card for a chance to best the Witcher.

Old Pals

Old Pals is accessible after completing main quest, A Poet Under Pressure Zoltan can be found at The Rosemary and Thyme. Vernon Roche is at the Temerian Partisan Camp in Gustfields. Lambert is most easily found at Kaer Morhen, but you can gain access to him while in Novigrad during the secondary quest, Following the Thread.

Merchants & Players

Most commonly, you can acquire new cards by purchasing them from various merchants throughout your travels. Many of these merchants are well-versed in the game of Gwent, giving Geralt the opportunity to play and win a card from their deck.
